I really hope that Obama doesn't run. Yet. By 2008, he will have not even finished his first term in the Senate. That's not nearly enough experience to be President, and he has no Executive experience whatsoever, just Legislative. I would love to see him run after at least one more complete term. He's also far more centrist than I think most progressives would assume he'd be once you look at his positions and voting record (for more on this, check out last month's Harpers).

If Obama runs, what he will actually be running for is Vice President for whomever is the centrist front runner (almost certainly Hillary Clinton). So what you'll get is a Clinton-Obama ticket, which I would find kind of problematic.

Don't get me wrong, I like Obama a lot and I would love to see his star rise further and further (perhaps, even, to the Presidency) but he's nowhere near ready for that.

And also, I'm holding out hope that Elliot Spitzer will be our first Jewish President, sometime around 2012-2016. Spitzer/Obama? That would be fucking ah-may-zing.

there's no way clinton/clinton is going to make it. i agree that obama is too green but if he does run i'll have to route for him because i think he has a better chance than hil even though i want a lady in there...and if a jew's gonna take it, it's gonna be spitzer. i like the spitzer/obama match-up but i think i may want obama as prez since he's so darling!

although rogray's cloned obama cabinet is enticing i would like to point out that as sexy that is it's not a very diverse presidency is it? let's see some john edwards, a few hillary clintons, and a madeline albright cameo...tastes yummy!
